Freecost Terms of Service

Welcome to Freecost! These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Freecost web application (the "Service"). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By creating an account or using the Service, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to these Terms. If you do not agree with any part of these Terms, you may not use the Service.
2. The Service
Freecost is a recipe and cost management application designed to help users calculate and track the costs of their ingredients and recipes.
3. User Accounts
Account Responsibility: You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account login information and for all activities that occur under your account.
Accuracy: You agree to provide accurate and complete information when registering for the Service.
4. User-Generated Content (Recipes and Costs)
Ownership: By creating, uploading, or storing content, including recipes, ingredient lists, and cost data (collectively, "User Content") on the Service, you irrevocably assign and transfer to Freecost all right, title, and interest in and to all intellectual property rights in your User Content. You acknowledge and agree that Freecost owns all User Content created or stored within the Service.
Usage of Content: Freecost has the perpetual and exclusive right to use, host, store, and process the User Content for any purpose, including operating, improving, and developing the Service, as well as for commercial and promotional purposes.
Privacy Commitment: While Freecost owns the intellectual property rights to the User Content, your personal User Content (recipes, costs, personal notes) will remain private by default. Freecost will not publish your private recipes or associate them publicly with your personal name or account ID without your explicit, separate permission.
5. Disclaimer of Warranties (Free Service)
The Service is provided to you free of charge (subject to potential free tier limitations). ACCORDINGLY, THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED ON AN "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" BASIS, without any warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not guarantee that the Service will be error-free, uninterrupted, or that any defects will be corrected.
6. Data Storage, Reliability, and Backups
Cloud Storage: You acknowledge that all data, including your User Content, is stored securely on cloud-based servers. While we strive for high availability, the Service may be unavailable from time to time due to maintenance, technical issues, or factors outside of our control.
Data Loss Risk: We perform routine data backups but we do not guarantee the permanent availability or restorable nature of your data. You acknowledge and agree that you are solely responsible for maintaining your own independent backups of any critical data or User Content stored on Freecost, and we shall not be liable for any loss or corruption of your data.
7. Prohibited Conduct
You agree not to use the Service to:
- Violate any applicable laws or regulations.
- Infringe upon the rights of others.
- Transmit viruses, malware, or any other destructive code.
- Upload or display any images or visual content that is not strictly related to food, ingredients, or recipes.
8. Termination
We may terminate or suspend your access to the Service and your account immediately, at our sole discretion, with or without cause, and without prior notice or liability. Upon termination, your right to use the Service will immediately cease.
9. Limitation of Liability
Freecost and its affiliates will not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, including without limitation, loss of profits, data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses, resulting from (i) your access to or use of or inability to access or use the Service; (ii) any conduct or content of any third party on the Service; (iii) any inaccuracy in cost calculations, pricing data, or financial loss resulting therefrom; or (iv) any failure of allergen, nutritional, or other health-related warnings or information provided by the Service. You acknowledge that the Service is a tool and not a substitute for professional accounting, health, or food safety consultation.
10. Changes to Terms
We reserve the right, at our sole discretion, to modify or replace these Terms at any time. We will provide reasonable notice of any material changes. By continuing to access or use our Service after those revisions become effective, you agree to be bound by the revised terms.
